how will I receive my photos?
I share your photos via an online gallery called PASS. It’s really beautiful and easy to use. You can share individual photos from your session directly to Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, or E-mail, all with one click in PASS. I will always password protect your galleries, and you can choose to give that password to friends or family if you like, and then they can see the whole gallery. I’ve made a sample gallery of my photos from the Florida Botanical Gardens so you can get an idea of what to expect. View the sample gallery here.
when will I receive my photos?
Photos will be delivered to you electronically via an online PASS gallery within 48 hours of your session, with the only exception being emergencies on my end. If I am hospitalized or have a family emergency, I’m sure you would understand. Otherwise I commit to giving you exceptionally fast turnaround times for your photos. They are yours, they are special, and I want you to have them as soon as possible.
how much do prints cost?
I am not directly involved in printing. What you choose to do once I PASS your session to you is up to you. In the next few months, you’ll be able to print directly from PASS, but until that feature is officially added, you can download your images and print them yourself online. Here are a few different sites you can choose from to print. My personal favorite is AdoramaPix because I’ve used them for years and always had speedy delivery and accurate color. I’m not affiliated with any of them, so choose what works best for you. Finally, please consider not going to a print kiosk at your local drug store. A lot of times the color looks poor and the paper is lower quality, in my experience.
is there an additional charge to use PASS?
Included in my rate is 30 days of access to your PASS gallery. If you would like to keep your gallery active for 1 year, it costs $29. That’s what PASS charges, not me. How long you would like your gallery is completely up to you.
can I access my PASS gallery from my phone/tablet?
Yes! iPhone/iPad users can download the PASS app from the iTunes store, and if you don’t have one of those, PASS should display beautifully in your phone or tablet’s browser too.
$300 and up is a lot to pay for photos. what gives?
I completely understand. That’s one of the reasons why I don’t charge for prints or get involved with that. I want you to know precisely how much everything will cost from start to finish, that way you can budget accordingly. Ordering prints online is simple and very wallet friendly. An 8×10 from AdoramaPix is about $1.50. For one fee, you receive your entire session, minus out of focus shots or unflattering bloopers (eyes shut, sneezing, etc). We will shoot until we are both happy with the session, which usually about an hour for mini sessions, or two hours for regular sessions. The time limits are more of a guideline for what to expect for both of us. If it takes 15 extra minutes, that’s okay.
what kind of equipment do you use?
I shoot with a Canon 5D Mark II and primarily use my Canon 100mm Macro f/2.8L lens which is great for close-ups and portraits. “L” lenses are Canon’s professional series and provide stunning image quality. If you are especially interested in image quality, please see my Image Quality Q&A.
how should we plan the session?
A great place to start is by making a list. If you would like a photo of all of your children under the tree in your back yard, put it on the list. If you would like a photo of one of your children playing on the swingset, let’s do that too. Making a basic shot list will help us both stay organized, maximize our time together, while minimizing time where we stand around wondering what to do next. Like the time guideline though, it doesn’t have to be set in stone. It will still be relaxed. Not to worry. Have you seen a photo on Pinterest that you love and would like to try to do? Email it to me and we’ll see if we can accomplish it, or something like it.
where should we go?
Where would you like to go? Your backyard? A park? The beach? I’m good with any of that. If we have enough time, we could possibly go to two locations, provided they were close by. We can discuss that via email while we’re planning your session together.
